The Life of a Pool

The swimming pool is the starting point—a modernist emblem of arrival, order, and aspiration. Designed as a private stage for leisure, it reflects a moment in cultural time when clarity and control defined the good life.

The images  in this collection observe the pool at different moments in its life. Pristine and full, and later drained and marked by use, its surface reinterpreted by those who find new purpose in its form. The same structure endures, but its meaning shifts—from luxury to improvisation, from possession to participation.

Rendered in a style that merges painterly realism with digital distortion, the images trace how ideals of perfection erode and evolve. What remains is both familiar and altered, as if the dream of California modernism persists, but with new hands shaping its reflection.
