Connected/Disconnected
Series Statement
Technology promised us closeness; instead it redirected our attention away from one another and toward the endless scroll of ourselves. In Connected/Disconnected, classical figures—symbols of shared memory, continuity, and human presence—are reimagined in the glow of handheld infinity. Eyes drift downward. Posture collapses inward. The body becomes tethered to an endless stream of information, urgency, and ambient demand.
These images explore the paradox of the digital age: connection everywhere, intimacy nowhere. We carry unprecedented access to one another, yet increasingly experience life alone—within curated feeds, algorithmic tunnels, and engineered distraction. What was once communal is now solitary; what once gathered us now fragments us.
This series reflects on the unseen emotional cost of our devices: the erosion of quiet, the collapse of attention, the soft extraction of time and identity. Technology expands our capacity to learn, heal, and understand—but it also shapes what we notice, how we think, and who we are allowed to become.
Connected/Disconnected asks the unsettling question:
What happens when connection is everywhere—except between us?
